Mildiani Qvevri Bouquet Rkatsiteli 2018 — a magnificent amber (orange) wine from Kakheti, created using the ancient Georgian technology in clay jugs called qvevri. Here is its brief and colorful portrait:
Color: Rich amber with a deep golden sheen — the result of six months of "rest" of the wine on the skins and seeds in the qvevri.
Aroma: A complex and enveloping "bouquet." It features bright notes of ripe quince, dried apricot, and yellow apple, elegantly complemented by hints of wildflowers, spices, and a light honey trail.
Taste: Full-bodied, structured, and surprisingly harmonious. The wine has the characteristic pleasant velvety astringency (tannins) typical of qvevri, balanced freshness, and a long, warming aftertaste with tones of dried fruits.
Feature: Thanks to aging in qvevri and subsequent maturation (often in oak), the wine gains a special depth and "intellectual" character, becoming both powerful and elegant.
This wine requires worthy gastronomic accompaniment. It will perfectly highlight the taste of fatty grilled fish, roasted poultry (turkey or chicken), as well as aged cheeses and traditional Georgian appetizers with nuts (satsivi, pkhali).
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 13–16 °C to fully reveal its rich aroma.
